Reporting to the Programs & Systems Business Partner, the Safety and Improvement Specialist is primarily responsible for coordinating the management and continuous improvement of the accredited Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System, including coordinating its ongoing certification. In addition, responsibility for coordinating the assurance program to support leadership. • Coordinate the ongoing management, monitoring, certification (ISO45001) and review of the Health Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Management System including the framework, policies, procedures, and system tools. • Develop and implement briefs, correspondence, policy, training, presentations, and tools to address safety and wellbeing program activities and initiatives. •Lead the delivery and maturation of safety and wellbeing measures, including incident and trend analysis, environmental scans, and evidence-based practice to propose risk mitigation strategies. •Lead and coordinate safety and wellbeing opportunities to implement integrated processes and procedures, initiatives, and projects to support and achieve continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Education Manager, the Nurse Educator is primarily responsible for building, developing, and activating members and member leaders in order to achieve real change in workplaces and communities. In this temporary Senior Safety Advisor role, I provided expert Work Health and Safety guidance across public safety portfolios, ensuring the wellbeing of staff and alignment with legislative and organisational requirements. I worked across multiple departments to drive policy alignment, education initiatives, and stakeholder engagement to meet accreditation standards. Reporting to the Director Safety Systems & Compliance, the Senior Safety Advisor is responsible providing expert guidance and advice in the development and implementation of effective work health and safety management systems to ensure the safety of employees, contractors, and visitors. This position also entails: • Establishing integrated management frameworks and ensuring that the system is consistently applied and implemented across the business. • Lead the identification and assessment of critical risk activities and establish and implement effective controls. • Lead the annual risk evaluation processes and monitor and report on the organization’s risk profile. • Contribute to the design and planning of new projects to ensure adequate identification, assessment and management of risk factors. • Developing and implementing the corporate SharePoint site. • Developing and implementing contractor safety management systems. • Developing and delivering work health and safety training programs to build capability, promote safety awareness and generate a safe work culture. • Reviewing and providing advice on pre-employment fitness for role and health surveillance assessments. • Reviewing in consultation with the supply department the site provision of drug and alcohol testing, first aid facilities and paramedical care. • Lead and developed the implementation of the safety and health management system for a greenfield coal mine. • Lead and developed the implementation of the wellness at work health initiative program. • Lead and implemented the implementation of the health and safety improvement plan for crush injuries and fatigue management.

In this acting leadership role, I was responsible for driving strategic safety outcomes across operations, ensuring legislative compliance, and strengthening Peabody’s safety culture. I provided direction to WHS teams, supported operational leaders, and oversaw critical risk management, governance, and reporting. My focus was on improving safety performance, embedding consistent standards, and fostering a proactive, risk-aware culture across the organisation.

Reporting to the HSE Manager, Northern Operations the Senior HSE Advisor is responsible for leading a small team of safety professionals in providing expert guidance and advice in the development and implementation of effective environment, work health and safety management systems to ensure the safety of employees, contractors and visitors. • Corporate and field support to EPCM projects, alliances and people; • Developing and delivery of HSE procedures, policies, safety and environmental management systems, tools, project/location specific safety management plans; • Provision of WHSO service with audit, incident investigation and risk management capability; • Conducting general and specific hazard identification inspections, risk assessments and setting of priorities for planning and implementing preventative control measures; and • Participating in identifying critical risk activities for the business and putting effective controls in place.
