I am a licensed professional engineer with over eighteen years of experience in the energy industry. I have designed turbine components for large scale power generation and supported my designs through large scale manufacturing and field testing. I have designed power plants and associated engineering systems from preliminary engineering studies through the full procurement, construction, and commissioning lifecycle for industrial power plants. I've had the unique experience of operating power plants that I designed, including placing the systems into initial service during commissioning, training client operations staff on the systems, and operating the plant prior to turnover to client operations teams. I served as the technical lead for full engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects at industrial facilities requiring steam and power. • Prepared heat/mass balances, flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, valve lists, line lists, and equipment specifications for steam and power plants. • Prepared request for quotes (RFQs) for equipment vendors to bid on power plant equipment. Evaluated equipment vendor bids and selected equipment to be procured and installed in the plant including boilers, gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators, pumps, fans, manual and control valves, heat exchangers, stacks, chemical/water treatment systems, and other equipment. • Reviewed vendor drawings to ensure technical requirements (form, fit, function) were met. • Supported projects through construction and commissioning, including placing mechanical systems into initial service and operation of the plant prior to training and plant turnover to client operation teams.

Mechanical Engineer

As a mechanical engineer in ENERCON's nuclear services division, I was responsible for developing engineering change packages making modifications and installing new systems within nuclear power plants. These change packages included drawings, bills of material, and post modification test plans. I also performed engineering analyses to support equipment sizing and existing plant conditions, include pump/fan sizing, HVAC, and thermal evaluations of plant systems. Example work scopes included: -Addition of auxiliary systems to help US Nuclear Plants survive beyond design basis accidents (following the events in Fukushima, Japan in 2011) in accordance with NRC order EA-12-049. -Plant System modifications to enable nuclear power plants to transition to performance-based probabilistic risks assessment methodologies for fire protection design according to standard NFPA 805, in lieu of costly deterministic designs used for legacy systems. -Modification to ANSI B31.1 piping systems, including the installation of new piping systems including pumps, control valves, and associated instrumentation. -Replacement/Refurbishment of Transformers, Cooling Towers, Main Condensers -Installation of new controlled environment structures for housing plant equipment such as pumps and diesel engines as well as the systems installed in the structures. -Troubleshooting of existing systems, including identifying timelines and causes for plant damages experienced by water hammer in existing feedwater heater systems. -Emergency repair of ASME Section VIII pressure vessels during plant refueling outages, bringing critical path outage work ahead of schedule to get plants back online faster.

Mechanical Engineer, Airfoil Design

Mechanical Design Engineer for new airfoil components on GE Energy's New Product Introduction (NPI) Gas Turbine programs. Enhanced state of the art design on GE's most successful NPI gas turbine programs using mechanical design expertise. -Sole author on a US patent for circumferential rotor blade platform design that eliminates unbalanced contact forces during thermal transients. -Developed a software tool to assess airfoil damage tolerance and repair during the design process. The tool uses automated Finite Element modeling and post-processing to determine field-repair limits. -Used 3D CAD and Finite Element models to identify failure modes for historical designs of seal components. Developed new seal designs that were successfully validated in full-scale engine tests and are now used.
