Worked closely with students to ensure comprehension of relevant lecture, discussion, and lab material in basic and advanced organic chemistry classes. I developed worksheets to test students individual ability. Attended workshops to develop and refine tutoring skills.

As a member of the Cherala Lab at the OSU/OHSU college of Pharmacy I assisted in the collection of blood and tissue samples from rats involved in a pharmacokinetics study. In addition to this I worked on an individual project involving the development of a HPLC based assay to screen for CYP19A1 (aromatase) activity in both hepatic and placental tissue. Activity assay data was complemented by Western blotting and PCR data to give a well rounded view of the status of aromatase. These data were collected from placental tissue samples from obese and non-obese women and the findings were presented at an internal conference.

* As an intern with Genentech's Medicinal Chemistry Department I was mainly responsible for the synthesis and characterization of target molecules that are of interest to the project team. * I was trained in the operation of Bruker NMR and Shimadzu LC/MS anaylytical systems. * I learned to analyze the data produced by both machines. * I created a scientific poster about my project to present at the campus wide intern poster session. * I worked with a member of the project team to optimize synthetic procedures and presented periodic updates of my progress.

* Gained extensive experience with the preparation of biological samples for bio-analysis of target metabolites * Became familiar with ABSciEx LC/MS/MS instrumentation and Analyst data quantification software * Exposed to troubleshooting and participating in LC/MS/MS method optimization * Maintained and reported an organized record of all findings in an electronic notebook
