I joined Westfield Specialty in November 2021 as Chief Claims Officer. I will be building a full-service Claims department to support the new Westfield Specialty organization.

I joined IAT Insurance Group in November 2016 and am Executive Vice President and Chief Claims Officer for IAT Group. IAT Insurance Group is a privately-owned multinational specialty insurance company providing property and casualty products for businesses and individuals. As one of the largest insurers for the transportation industry, IAT offers trucking liability, independent contractor owner/operator, and moving and storage coverage, as well as international coverage for trucks crossing into the United States. Additionally, IAT provides excess and surplus general liability, liquor liability, property, garage, excess/umbrella, crime and inland marine insurance; and coverage for various auto dealer, homeowner and commercial property programs. My responsibilities include claim technical and operational management of all areas of Claims, including Claims Legal.

As Senior Claim Officer, Multinational Claims, my current responsibilities include management of ACE’s Foreign Casualty and Canadian Claims, as well as claims based in the United States underwritten by ACE Overseas General (AOG). My responsibilities also include leading training for ACE North American Claims and providing oversight and management of long term exposure claims handled by ACE North American Claims. In addition, I am a matrix report to the Division President of ACE Global Accounts. As part of the Global Accounts Claims proposition, my responsibilities include driving the North American claims strategy and service development focus primarily concerned with service offerings and delivery to Multinational and Global Account clients. Working in partnership with AOG, this role has group-wide and regional accountability for customer relationship management and service delivery within the Global Accounts segment. I interact internally with regional and central claims functions, underwriting, new business, marketing, actuarial/financial, and legal/compliance staff; and work closely with senior business leadership to develop and participate in key strategic initiatives. Externally, I interact with large corporate customers and brokers at senior levels.

As Sr. Vice President, ACE North American Claims, my responsibilities include managing the Public Entity, Foreign Casualty, Complex, and Long Term Exposure claims teams. I also continue to report to ACE’s Chief Claims Officer in my role as the point person for the Claims Associates program and ACE Group-wide Medicare reporting concerns.

Driving strategies and resolutions of significant casualty losses throughout the subsidiary companies including ACE USA, ACE Westchester and ACE Overseas General.

Manage a group of claim handlers, managers and VP's handling and supervising claims under General Liability and Auto Liability policies. Claims include, but are not limited to, litigated and non-litigated, complex, long term exposure, products, premises, completed operations/operations, advertising injury, sexual abuse/molestation, recreational marine, warranty and construction claims pending both in the United States and internationally. Responsible for over-all claim technical and resource management of the unit, including coverage analysis; litigation and claim resolution strategy; retention of counsel; litigation management and budgeting; as well as reporting to executive management. Manage the relationship with and provide support for nine different underwriting segments, as well as reinsurance and actuarial groups. Provide training to team as well as other business units. Market claim department capabilities to internal and external customers and clients.

Manage complex long term exposure, asbestos and environmental claims and declaratory judgment actions filed against the company; receive and review new and existing claims and policy information to provide background for investigation; analyze and evaluate facts supplied by investigation to determine coverage, to indicate recommended reserves and to determine settlement values; supervise and direct the defense of lawsuits against the insured; retain and manage counsel, including strategy and litigation budgets; and represent the company at management meetings, mediations, arbitrations and settlement conferences. Responsible for review of and to provide settlement authority for all asbestos claims handled throughout the department. Provided training to other handlers on a variety of issues including asbestos medicine, litigation management and settlement evaluation.

Analyze, investigate, reserve, negotiate and settle environmental and pollution liability claims; supervise and direct the defense of lawsuits against the insured and declaratory judgement actions against the insurer; analyze and interpret policy language, including general and pollution liability policies, and various other contracts; retain counsel; represent company at claim management meetings; provide training.
