Another manual revision. Fingers hurting from useless clicking. Brain numbed by endless repetitive, tedious tasks. Overtime. No time or energy for life, relationships, or rest. This was my reality as an engineer before 2016. I was from where I wanted to be, how I wanted to work, and what I wanted to use my brainpower and skills on as a self-respecting engineer. It was time for change. 2016 was a breaking point. I had been testing Grasshopper for a while when I was assigned to a large project. Its complexity required a non-standard approach. Computational approach. I sold it to the team. They bought it. With initial resistance, of course, but the potential was undeniable. This is how the Randselva Bridge, the world´s longest bridge built without drawings, based solely on BIM models, came to existence, and shook the AEC industry. This is also when my mission for digital transformation of the industry began. What's happened since? In 2019, I co-founded BIMcorner.com blog & YouTube channel to spread the knowledge and drive change bottom-up. I started teaching colleagues at work, business clients' teams, and before I knew it, I was a lecturer at technological universities (NTNU, Zigurad). In 2021, I won the prestigious EFCA Future Leaders award for Europe’s most talented engineer. I was invited to speak at prestigious conferences, including BILT Europe and Dimensions in Las Vegas, all because of my computational design expertise and drive for change. Maybe also because of the funny memes I show in my conference presentations. 🤫 Founding LearnGrasshopper.com felt natural. The excitement and confidence I felt back in 2022 have only grown and are with me with every single course release because it’s YOU, the course participants, that embody the transformation I am hoping for.
