Managing the social media, email newsletter, and blog of an independently-owned upscale clothing and home goods store. Taking and editing product/event photos, arranging artful in-store displays. Very occasional sales responsibilities and daily interactions with customers, as work took place in-store

This job is first and foremost about creativity and inspiration. Every day I get the chance to give people the knowledge and confidence they need to grow in their craft. My main duty is providing fiber arts-specific customer service: requiring extensive knowledge of natural and synthetic fibers, knitting/crochet techniques, pattern reading and construction of multiple types of projects, and fluent Ravelry.com use. I am also jointly responsible for the shop's multiple social media platforms (primarily Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Ravelry), and the copywriting, photography, graphic design, data tracking, and customer service they require. Occasionally my coworkers and I contribute to the weekly email newsletters. Product management and visual marketing responsibilities: arranging creative and effective displays, keeping store to standards of daily orderliness, and properly taking care of inventory (accepting shipments, tagging and shelving, updating stock records, etc). Web/phone order fulfillment: pulling stock for shipment, wrapping packages, and purchasing postage.

I was very fortunate to spend a semester studying abroad in London. In addition to putting more focused research into my areas of interest (19th Century Europe, specifically Victorian England), I was able to spark my love of travel with daily exploration of London, as well as trips to Rome, Paris, Prague, Cambridge, and Aberystwyth.
