Koon Liang ANG (洪君良)

I have 20 years of PQE starting with private practice and then in-house legal and compliance roles with Intel Malaysia, Philips Singapore, Tyco Singapore, Johnson Controls China, BASF China, Tojoy China and now Schneider Electric in Singapore. My greatest assets are my abilities to navigate complex corporate structures, engage and manage of stakeholders and build a compliance function and bring it up to maturity. At Intel, I started as Malaysia Counsel in 2003 and then APAC Counsel for procurement department before becoming a Business Compliance Manager. I relocated to Singapore to join Philips as ASEAN + ANZ Compliance Counsel. Then I moved on to Tyco as Asia Compliance Counsel and for a few months took on additional role as acting China Legal Director alternating between Shanghai and Singapore. Tyco merged with Johnson Controls and I was relocated to Shanghai to integrate the compliance teams and rebuild the compliance function for entire Asia Pacific. I later joined BASF China as Compliance Officer to help bring its compliance function up to a new level. Later I joined a Chinese company called Tojoy as Head of Legal & Compliance for its International Division. I am now back to Singapore working for Schneider Electric as Regional Compliance Officer for East Asia Japan & Pacific zones. Both legal and compliance roles at Intel, Philips, Tyco, Johnson Controls, BASF, Tojoy and Schneider required me to address a broad range of matters covering legal, operational, commercial, as well as ethics & compliance. For compliance, I am experience in developing, deploying and managing programs and policies, providing trainings, conducting investigations and risk assessments. My multilingual skills and awareness of different cultures in Asia and the West have allowed me to develop and maintain strong working relationship with stakeholders of different seniorities and backgrounds from various region. Clients often describe me as trusted advisor and key business partner not only for being committed, enthusiastic and reliable in performing my duties but also for demonstrating strong business acumen, leadership quality, integrity, as well as being collaborative and having a good sense of humour. Such soft skills are crucial in communicating pragmatic business oriented solutions for legal and compliance challenges in real commercial world.
