I assisted in preparation of criminal prosecutions, including designation of charges, review of evidence, and creation of case proof analyses. I also conducted legal research for Air Force personnel and families for personal, civil law issues and completed legal reviews of real estate reimbursement claims by Air Force personnel and Memorandums of Understanding between the Air Force and other armed services. Additionally, I acted as lead counsel in a successful appellate hearing to the state department of labor regarding an unemployment claim.

I interned for a Denver District Criminal Court judge. I drafted orders to criminal appeals from Denver County Court and researched and drafted memorandums for the court regarding various motions to the court.

I assisted in on-campus marketing for Westlaw and WestlawNext as well as aided students and faculty with legal research procedures and questions. I also helped students and faculty with navigation of TWEN, Westlaw’s online database for law school courses.

I represented a non-profit group in a lawsuit against the Bureau of Land Management regarding violations of the Federal Land Policy and Management Act. I engaged in legal research and writing surrounding issues of the environmental impact of the BLM-approved project and completed review of a nearly 85,000 page administrative record. I also engaged in negotiations with opposing counsel regarding a Motion to Intervene filed by an interested third-party and a Joint Case Management Plan. Additionally, I researched and briefed an issue of prudential standing as it pertains to challenging a endangered species listing to the D.C. District Court.

I interned for the Denver Trial Office of the Colorado State Public Defender. I researched criminal statutes and case law and wrote memorandums and motions for attorneys including issues related to Rule 404(b), C.R.E. regarding use of prior acts for character evidence. I observed several homicide trials in district court and misdemeanor trials in county court as well as interviewed clients in preparation for advisement hearings and witnesses as part of investigations. Additionally, I assisted an attorney in obtaining a personal recognizance bond for a new client charged with possession of drugs where the arrest affidavit revealed potential search and seizure issues
