Koen Prud'homme van Reine

I was part of the Aerodynamics Team for the Formula Student team in Southampton. I worked on the front wing, mainly assisting other team members with analysis and design ideas.

Worked on the design of the front and rear wings of the Formula Student car of the Delft University of Technology for the competition season 2021. Also worked on the production of the high-voltage system, as well as the design and production of other parts of the car.

Responsible for the design of the high and low voltage batteries of the DUT20e racing car. Mainly focussed on the low voltage battery, with most of my time devoted to the casing and the total concept of the battery.

I was the team manager and one of the designers of the GO-1 Racing Team. This team was the only Dutch team to try and compete in the 2018 F1 in Schools competition. The competition is not something that is well known in the Netherlands, which was the reason that we were not able to obtain sufficient financial resources, and thus we did not participate in the competition. We still produced a car that was compliant with the rules. This project improved my management skills, and it also gave me a first introduction to CAD and CFD.

I have chosen to follow the specialisation track Aerodynamics during my MSc. Courses are about aerodynamic fundamentals, experimental methods, numerical techniques, CFD (RANS and LES modelling) and aeroelasticity + fluid-structure interaction. I also took electives on sustainable economic policy and public speaking.

I studied as an exchange student at the University of Southampton, as part of my bachelor's degree. I followed courses related to aerodynamics and automotive engineering. Courses: Race Car Aerodynamics (SESA6072) Turbulence (SESA6061) Applications of CFD (FEEG6005) Automotive Chassis and Powertrain (SESM3035)

I did a Pre-University class at the University of Leiden. The class gave a first introduction to the subject of quantum mechanics. This course improved my skills in both physics and mathematics. The course took place between January and April 2017.
