Control and Monitoring Scatec Global Energy Plants

 Planning, Supervising and organizing of the technical department works.  Act as the authorized Operator on 1 kV DC systems, for the isolation of 33kV Convertor Cabin internal Transformers, for the 132/33 kV Substation, for isolation of any 33 kV cable feeders between any of the Convertor Cabins.  Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance and avoid unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.  Plan wiring and installation of equipment and fixtures such as motors, generators, inverters, PV panels as well as control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.  Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follow diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.  Inspect wiring and fixtures for conformance to SANS 10142.  Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Repair faulty equipment or systems.  Study production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.  Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.  Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.  Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.  Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.  Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.

 Problem analysis: evaluate problems that arise in the photovoltaic system, undertake a Technical investigation, provide and implement a technically sound solution to the problem(s) as required.  Supervise O&M electrical tasks in the Substation.  Supervise O&M electrical tasks such as corrective, predictive and preventive maintenance.  Compile daily reports of work done.  Ensure sites are operating at full power and with maximum efficiency.  Ensure safe high, medium and low voltages switching on all networks.  Ensure all relevant information on preventive and corrective work orders are correct and submitted before deadlines by technicians.  Follow up on all defects and events ensure repairs are done on time.  Managing electrical tools and equipment.  Ensure all monthly inspection sheets and commissioning sheets are up to date and available at all times.  Ensure all faults/breakdowns are responded to timeously.  Training of “Technicians in Training” and subordinates.  Ensure adherence of team to safety standards such as OHS Act and ISO 14001 standards.  Implement lock out and tag procedure and issue permits in cooperation with the health and safety Officer.
