The skills I have gained through my Elementary Education program have made me an industrious, flexible, resourceful, goal driven, and compassionate individual. My educational track record will show that I have always been a hard worker who is able to find a way to be successful. I worked with a mentor teacher to plan, implement, and critically reflect on lesson plans. The class was a multicultural and various ability level group of third graders. In this placement I educated my students in math, e=English language arts (ELA), science, and social studies. Working at a Title 1 school allowed me great opportunities to implement technology and arts into my lessons while I also followed Common Core State Standards (CCSS). This opportunity was my first chance to take a full time lead role in the classroom. I was able to learn a variety of classroom management strategies that helped ensure all students were able to complete their work with minimal distractions.

I prepare students of all races, backgrounds, and abilities to become lifelong learners by teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies. To do this, I employ a variety of creative, engaging educational strategies which allow all students to find success and build confidence. I also serve on the school literacy committee and mentored a trebuchet team.
