• Completed literature review of prior National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Department of Energy (DOE) Rover and Nuclear Engine for Rocket Vehicle Application (NERVA) nuclear thermal rocket programs, and current centrifugal nuclear thermal rocket and toroidal vortex engine research. • Used SolidWorks to model a basic cyclonic chamber and conducted swirl flow analysis with Ansys Fluent to validate previous pressure and velocity results to document a baseline toroidal vortex configuration. • Designed a toroidal vortex-modified NERVA rocket engine model to conduct computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis for comparison with prior NERVA rocket engine thermal and velocity experimental results.

• Worked with Georgia Tech Research Institute Summer Interns to design, build, and test a noise machine in support of research led by Dr. David Hu to help develop an automated cholera detection tool to help improve health in Third World countries. • Supported efforts to acquire noise samples to help validate machine learning algorithms for successfully detecting diarrhea-containing cholera bacteria, and development of prototype remote detection device. • Co-presented a poster at the 2022 Southeast Regional Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology Conference, showcasing advancements in cholera detection research.

• Developed annual training and performance evaluation program to assess the ability of DOJ offices and nearly 70 critical information systems to recover from emergencies and failures within required timeframes. • Conducted departmental continuity operations in-person training, and led practical, tabletop, and virtual simulation exercises. • Documented and maintained training results to inform improvement and DOJ stakeholders. • Ensured root-causes of failures were understood and remediated, and required additional training and performance evaluations as necessary. • Regularly maintained departmental continuity plans and reviewed system contingency plans for accuracy, effectiveness, and completeness.

• Maintained cybersecurity policies and worked with cross-team stakeholders to update or draft new policy documents. • Provided cybersecurity anomaly detection, investigation, and resolution services.

Supported Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in providing strategic leadership for Information Assurance Department, including project coordination, serving as primary contact and decision-maker in CISO’s absence, and representing the team to internally and externally.

Deployed essential security services to over 2,000 devices, including drive encryption, anti-virus, and security configurations. Analyzed and resolved over 400 security incidents annually.

• Coordinated major cybersecurity projects, including designing and constructing 24x7 Security Operations Center, migrating security monitoring tools to new data center, and documented incident response protocols. • Led Summer intern program and oversaw creation of online incident tracking system. • Deployed and maintained anti-virus solution to over 12,000 computers, identified, troubleshot, and recovered from over 1,200 security incidents annually, identified security vulnerabilities, and tested/deployed security updates.

Norwich’s Master of Science in Information Security & Assurance program is presented in three six-month semesters, each comprising two 11-week, six-credit courses. The course topics introduce today’s most critical and relevant areas of information assurance. Students master one course at a time, with each course building on the next to create a strong foundation of knowledge and context for future topics. The final semester offers a concentration option through which students may pursue a specialized area of interest.
