1980, BERKELEY CA — "Is everything okay at home," my Preschool teacher asked my mother. Everything at home was fine. Her concern stemmed from my artwork at school. I had been painting pieces of paper a deep rich black. For a week. The next week I explored cool blue hues. Each week I explored another color. Studying and absorbing the nuances of each hue. Or, so the story goes. PRESENT DAY, AUSTIN TX — I spend my days much like I did in Preschool. I analyze things. I take things apart. I build things. I find interesting, challenging, awesome opportunities to learn everywhere I look. Such is the gift and the curse of being a designer.
