Keith Fernandez MSc, CEng, Eur Ing, RIBA affil., MIMechE, MCIOB, FCIBSE. Keith is a chartered engineer, trained in Mechanical Building Service Engineering, with 40 years work experience. He has headed up major projects both Nationally and Internationally. Keith has excellent front end design experience and has worked with many signature, boutique and cutting edge architects. He has studied both Engineering and Architecture and marries up the two disciplines in an honest, direct and holistic manner which includes the Clients, the Developers, Specialist Consultants, Quantity Surveyors and Main Contractors in the dialogue and development. Keith is an architectural engineer. Keith has a strong knowledge and passion for sustainable environmental design. Keith has been involved in most building sectors but has specialized in Commercial developments, Commercial Banks, Airports, Residential, Sports Arenas and Stadiums, Skyscrapers, Education and Museums as well as very bespoke, individual and creative building projects and design competitions. Keith has been heavily involved in teaching and mentoring young architects and engineers.He has run a Post Grad technical unit at the Bartlett - UCL for 10 years and has been a guest speaker and design critic at four London architectural universities - University College London, Architectural Association, Royal College of Art and Brighton University. Keith has an 'Old School' approach to design and construction; understanding basic truths and how these get interpreted into Architecture, Construction and Operation as well as Program and Costs. This approach identifies problems, irregularities and risks, at early stages, allowing for correct solutions to be implemented in a structured, pragmatic and holistic way. Keith:s experience helps him to identify strategic errors at very early stages at the front end of design, from the Clients briefing process, Clients lack of understanding of the construction process and expectations, Design teams misunderstanding of Critical Path programming and sequencing processes, Identifying early intrusion surveys, Understanding weak links in the process and link from start to finish : Client - PM - Design team - Construction team - Commissioning - Handover stagesand raising this early to make each link and interface occur more smoothly.
