As a Government Officer I was the Commissioner's representative on South Georgia. Within this role I responsible for local management of fisheries worth £5m for toothfish, krill and icefish. My fisheries role included data management, vessel licencing and safety inspections. During the summer season I was responsible for management oversight of visits by 8000 tourists a year on up to 80 cruise ships and yachts. As part of my role I was the appointed Harbour Master and Customs Officer for in the region of 200-250 vessel visits to South Georgia a year. In was directly involved in the management and delivery of numerous large environmental projects including the SGHT Rat Eradication Project, GSGSSI Reindeer Eradication Project and GSGSSI Invasive Plant management.

As a post-doctoral scientist I was responsible for carrying out and publishing high quality science. During my time at BAS I had three PhD students and was heavily involved in management of the BAS Professional Diving operations and recruitment of diving staff. I represented BAS on numerous external committees.

In my previous role I was responsible for: Oversight and management of all GSGSSI operations, including management of the Pharos SG Charter Agreement, a patrol Vessel on full time charter to GSGSSI (£3m+ total contract cost), deputising for the CEO & Director of Fisheries as required, management of staff, management of and liaison with the British Antarctic Survey regarding delivery of their £1m support contract. Representation of GSGSSI to a wide range of external stakeholders.
