About
I’m Kayoum, 25, the CEO and co-founder of OORB Open Organic Robotics. We're building tools to make robotics accessible and collaborative, from classrooms to industry. I'm also a PhD Student in Telecommunications at INRS Montréal, with an engineering degree in Microelectronics & Embedded Systems and a bachelor’s in Embedded Systems. My work sits at the intersection of real-time systems, FPGA-based hardware acceleration, 5G/mmWave channel characterization, and the bigger mission of turning complex tech into real-world impact. I have 4+ years of hands-on experience in embedded systems, robotics, and AI, with a particular focus on open-source development and edge computing. Outside of technical work, I’ve grown through leadership in the IEEE community, founding a student branch, organizing international congresses, mentoring students, and serving on global boards like IEEE AESS and IES. Along the way, I’ve been honored to receive awards like the IEEE AESS Graduate Student Scholarship and the 2025 IEEE STEM Champion title. At the core of it all is a simple belief: engineering should empower. Whether it’s mentoring, building platforms, or diving into a new hardware project, I’m here for it. PFE Internship – Embedded Systems & RF Characterization

Final-year engineering internship focused on the design and implementation of a real-time embedded platform for mmWave channel characterization. The work integrates FPGA-in-the-Loop (FIL) methodology, hardware acceleration using Xilinx FPGAs, and high-frequency signal processing for 5G/6G applications. Key responsibilities: • Developing a high-speed signal acquisition and processing chain • Implementing RF testbeds for channel modeling and estimation • Using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Vivado, and Vitis for hardware-software co-design • Collaborating within the INRS EMT research team under Prof. Tarek Djerafi The project is part of a broader research initiative exploring advanced communication systems and real-time reconfigurable architectures.

At Ubotica Technologies, I work as a full-time intern in the Edge MLOps division. My role involves developing and implementing machine learning models on edge devices, managing the end-to-end MLOps pipeline, and conducting research on innovative Edge AI technologies.
