CORE Student Researcher & Presenter @ Georgia State University

About

I’m a student at Georgia State University Perimeter College pursuing an associate’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Information Systems, and I plan to continue into a bachelor’s program in CIS. I’m working toward a career in UX research and design, with a focus on how technology functions in real-world systems and how it can be improved through user-centered design. My academic and research experience has centered on the intersection of technology and human experience, particularly in understanding how systems succeed or fail for the people using them. I’ve conducted research on assistive technology for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, which has shaped my interest in accessibility and real-world usability. My long-term goal is to build a career in UX research and design with a niche in accessibility, particularly focused on Deaf and hard-of-hearing users and assistive technology, and to improve how institutions design systems so they work more effectively for everyone.

I was the Founder and President of the first Black Student Union at Brookwood High School, where I built the organization from the ground up by recruiting an executive board, planning community service projects, and running digital meetings during COVID-19. I also served on the school’s Executive Board and Leadership Team, where I helped implement new student-led equity initiatives like Cultural Night. Outside of leadership, I was a 200m/400m sprinter on the track and field junior varsity team and consistently maintained Honor Roll standing.
