Katie Rainsberger

As a former professional athlete, I research critical gaps in our understanding of exercising women. My current focus is menstrual health, nutrition, and performance in women. I am currently a PhD candidate at the Technical University of Munich school of Medicine and Health in the lab of Exercise, Nutrition, and Health. Our lab leverages a strong passion for female exercise physiology with access to world class facilities and research at the Bavarian Olympic Training Center, contributing to the advancement of female athletic performance.My passion for advancing knowledge in women’s health stems from a personal experience. A misdiagnosed condition led to the abrupt end of my professional running career. Leveraging my experience as a professional athlete with my expertise in female physiology allows me to pursue rigorous academic research for our next generation of female athletes.
