As a Nurse Practitioner in the outpatient clinic of the Plastic Surgery division, I provided care for a diverse patient population while collaborating with a team of world-renowned plastic surgeons. Ranging from infants to geriatrics, our patients included craniofacial, breast reconstruction, post bariatric surgery and chronic wounds, as well as a multitude of other plastic surgery cases. I regularly conducted pre-op histories and physicals as well as administered post-operative care, such as tissue expansion during breast reconstruction, hypertrophic scar therapy and patient/family post-operative counseling.

As a RN in a Level IV NICU, I provided care for critically ill neonates during all phases of their stay in the unit. This position required leadership, organization and the ability to work well in a team dynamic while often simultaneously fulfilling the role of charge, transport or admission nurse. During my time working in the NICU I cared for infants in their most critical states including during brain cooling and the re-warming phase. Other responsibilities on a daily basis included conducting patient assessments, administering medications, providing necessary treatments as well as supporting the family in this extremely stressful time.

As a Nurse Practitioner in a 37 bed, level IV NICU, I work as part of the neonatology team to provide care to our critically ill neonates. The patient population includes extreme prematurity, high-risk surgical patients, brain/whole body cooling and infants with congenital cardiac anomalies. As the Perinatal Regional Transport Center of the Bronx, our NICU frequently receives these types of critically ill neonates from other hospitals as well. My responsibilities include participation on daily rounds, attendance to high-risk deliveries and providing the proper neonatal resuscitation, sterile procedures including central line placement, counseling high-risk parents prior to delivery as well as supporting the family throughout their entire NICU stay.
