Katerine van Rietschoten
Associate Director - Peptide Chemistry @ Bicycle Therapeutics
About
With over 14 years of experience in peptide research and development, I have built a career around driving scientific progress, operational efficiency and team success in the lab and beyond. Currently I am taking some time out in 2026 to spend time with my family, but seeking my next challenge to start early 2027. I am open to diverse opportunities that allow me to apply my expertise and continue driving impactful outcomes. Throughout my career, I have: - Gained expertise in solid-phase peptide synthesis, purification, cyclisation methods, conjugation and analytical processes. - Led the team responsible for delivering peptides to support early screening and lead optimisation projects, while overseeing resource and CapEx planning to ensure efficient execution, timely milestone delivery and alignment with strategic objectives. - Built and managed a high-performing team of up to 10 scientists, developing skills in leadership, mentoring, training and fostering a collaborative environment. - Driven innovation by spearheading process optimisations that improved efficiency, scalability and quality in peptide synthesis workflows. - Contributed to medicinal chemistry optimisation efforts aimed at enhancing peptide stability, affinity and physicochemical properties, supporting the advancement of compounds into later-stage development. - Managed multiple projects, strengthening project management skills in planning, resource allocation, timeline oversight and cross-functional coordination. - Supported collaborations with CROs, including participating in early partnership discussions to establish new collaborations and expand research capacity. - Author on 13 publications and inventor on 6 granted patents. Recognised for efficiency, dedication and adaptability, I bring a strong work ethic and thrive across both scientific and operational settings. I excel at the interface of research and operations, with a focus on optimising processes, empowering teams and advancing meaningful research and development outcomes.
