I provide a range of support services that assists students to participate as independently as possible in their chosen course of study. This includes note-taking or scribing during examinations, library or research assistance, participation assistance and accessible format editing of notes.

Prepared discussion papers, reports and briefings on police shootings and arson recidivism for the President, which were subsequently forwarded to the State Shadow Attorney General. - The report on police shootings revealed that a large proportion of victims of police shootings suffer from mental illnesses, and that police are not adequately trained to deal with individuals suffering from psychotic episodes. - The discussion paper on arson recidivism demonstrated a lack of Australian research on the topic, and that arson recidivism is a complex and misunderstood issue. Researched and drafted submissions to government inquiries on Freedom of Information legislation and Electoral Reform to ensure that the organisation’s views were included in public record and could form part of the Government’s decision making process. Wrote content on the re-instatement of the Racial Discrimination Act in the Northern Territory, arson recidivism and electoral reform for dissemination to the public through the Liberty website and quarterly newsletter.

Represented the University in its state-wide marketing campaign to encourage applications and enrolments by participating in publicity photo-shoots published in magazines, newspapers, online and outdoor advertising, writing content for the University’s website and contributing my ‘success story’. Encouraged enrolments by delivering presentations about my success in the University’s law program and providing information about the benefits of the University’s programs to prospective students, their parents and career advisors in forums attended by up to 500 people. Provided information and represented the University at schools, careers expos, on campus events and campus tours.

Assisted the family violence duty solicitor as part of the Centre’s Intervention Order support service. Included attending court with the duty solicitor, conducting client interviews, coordinating the client wait list, and ensuring that clients were adequately supported and informed about their rights and obligations under Intervention Orders. Liaised with respondents Legal Aid solicitor to determine the Intervention Order conditions appropriate for both parties. Interpreted the legal concerns of clients from a broad spectrum of backgrounds presenting with a wide range of complex social and legal issues to determine the precise legal aspects of their issues and the most appropriate courses of action. Referred clients to the Centre’s lawyers, private solicitors or other legal services to empower them with the information and strategies needed to approach their problems.

Provided advice, information and assistance to new clients calling the firm’s disability advice hotline during and after national television, radio, online and print campaigns. Identified and interpreted the legal concerns of callers and referred them to the appropriate areas in the firm. As the firm’s point of contact for potential clients on the national superannuation hotline, achieved high levels of caller satisfaction and transformed numerous first time callers into clients. Supported case managers with their file loads and managed all Queensland files transferred to the firm’s Victorian office. Prepared and proofread correspondence and documents in relation to insurance claims.
