This position began in office, but transitioned to fully remote at the start of the COVID19 pandemic. In this position I supported executive level leadership in both the CA Health Plan and Molina corporate office with implementing and executing various HR Initiatives including the annual performance review and salary planning process, succession planning, employee appreciation programs, analyzing and interpreting annual employee survey results, developing and implementing policy changes based on annual survey results, high level intervention and resolution of employee relation issues, partnering with leadership to analyze, review and administer RIF actions, liaising with corporate HR departments and various business units to support M&A activities and various other projects as assigned.

Field HR Manager

After the acquisition of Infinity Insurance by Kemper was completed in July, 2018, I joined the HR Field Support team as the CA HR expert in the newly combined company. In this role, I support the entire CA operation by partnering closely with all levels of leadership statewide and supporting both leadership and staff in the areas of employee relations, rollout of company initiatives, training on CA specific labor laws and keeping out of state leaders updated on CA issues. Specific Duties include: • Employee Relations: partner with in-house counsel to conduct investigations, advise local management on company policies and CA labor laws and how to apply them to specific employee issues, assist managers with disciplinary action including written counseling through to termination and assist management and employees with various sensitive issues. • Training: provide on-site training on CA labor laws; provide training support for new company initiatives such as the annual performance management process, annual compensation planning and updated company handbook policies; train staff and managers on utilizing the HRIS systems. • Liaison: keep department leaders both inside and outside of HR up to date with CA specific concerns, law changes and trends; facilitate problem solving by getting the right staff involved to address concerns; partner with the payroll department to ensure CA staff are paid according to CA labor law and; advise department heads on local staffing trends and possible site-specific concerns; provide local support in facilitating company change. • Miscellaneous: partner with local leaders in developing and interpreting performance goals; various special projects including out of state investigation support, review of HR business processes/policy and recommend changes, etc.; onboarding new hires; prepare and analyze various employee reports (turnover, wage, etc.); assist local managers with timekeeping issues.

Human Resources Business Partner II

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Human Resources and partnering closely with the Vice President, Claims, the primary focus of the position is employee relations, recruitment, keeping out of state HQ updated on CA issues and generally assisting employees with various HR related issues and questions. Specific Duties include: • Employee Relations: partner with in-house counsel to conduct investigations, advise local management on company policies and CA labor laws and how to apply them to specific employee issues, assist managers with disciplinary action including written counseling through to termination and assist management and employees with various sensitive issues. • Recruitment: writing and posting job advertisements, reviewing incoming resumes and forwarding appropriate candidates on to hiring managers, scheduling and administering pre-employment testing, assisting with scheduling interviews, conducting and reviewing background checks, advising management on salaries for both internal and external candidates, onboarding new hires and conducting new hire orientation. • Liaison with HQ in Alabama: keep up to date with CA labor laws and advise HQ of needed policy changes and interpretation of labor laws, work with local groups and HQ on appropriate salary grades for CA staff, advise HQ on local staffing trends and keep HQ informed as to any serious CA related employment issues. • Training: certified Targeted Selection trainer and provide periodic management training on company policies and procedures. • Benefits: conduct open enrollment meetings, assist employees with general benefit questions and serve as a source of information for CA LOA general questions. • Miscellaneous: complete unemployment paperwork and attend unemployment hearings, update company vehicle accident/complaint log and advise management on previous incidents, prepare and analyze various employee reports (turnover, wage, etc.) as requested and special projects as assigned.

Human Resources Liaison
A client field representative that primarily focused on employee relations, policy writing, training and advising management and employees on various issues. Specific duties included: • Employee Relations: conducted employee counseling meetings including working with management to create necessary documentation such as written warnings or performance improvement plans, delivered the information to the employee and followed up with both management and employees; conducted and/or assisted with client investigations; conducted orientation and termination meetings. • Policy Review and Writing: Reviewed and created workplace policies, including client specific handbooks. • Training: conducted required AB1825 training and employee level harassment and discrimination prevention training, customer service training, blood borne pathogens training as well as various other client requested trainings. • Advising: met with employees and/or management regarding leaves of absences including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA and workers’ compensation, and explained how SDI, PFL and any other STD or LTD insurance benefits worked with the various employee leaves. • Miscellaneous Duties: assisted with benefits and workers’ compensation issues, occasionally handled recruitment functions and assisted with resolving client complaints.

Human Resources Generalist
Primary focus of position was recruitment, benefits administration, management of leaves of absences, employee relations and workers’ compensation. Specific duties included: • Recruitment: handled all aspects of recruitment for full-time and part-time positions from manager level to assistant level which included creating job ads, posting on various online outlets and using the services of NAS Recruitment, reviewing resumes, conducting preliminary interviews, reviewing background checks and advising management regarding final hiring decisions; placed temporary employees from numerous agencies; created and implemented a new hire orientation program and coordinated the work study program with the University of Southern California. • Benefits Administration: managed all aspects of open enrollment including working with our benefits brokers, conducting open enrollment meetings and coordinating the employee wellness fair; managed benefit enrollments; fielded questions and resolved problems from employees and benefit vendors; coordinated COBRA with vendor. • LOA Management: processed all FMLA and other leaves of absences including meeting with employees and management to explain various leaves and employee rights and obligations when taking a leave, tracked all LOAs and ensured proper documentation was received during the leave process. • Employee Relations: managed various employee relations issues which included conducting investigations, writing and administering disciplinary action and conducted exit interviews; fielded and filtered general employee complaints. • Workers’ Compensation: processed and managed workers’ compensation claims and worked closely with insurance carrier to reduce risk and close claims. • Miscellaneous Duties: processed payroll as the backup to the Payroll Manager and also served as backup to both the Director of Human Resources and the Human Resources Assistant; audited new hire paperwork.
