Our Mission: We are committed to sustainable farming, fighting local food insecurity, and improving future generations' quality of life through farming while providing the highest quality, delicious beef to our community. This is the Point: We at Ovoka do Wagyu like no one else. Unlike Wagyu-mass-producers or market-newbies, we raise our own Wagyu with our own hands, on our own farm, using our own customized nutrition program. We work with our own animals' DNA so we can carefully monitor the quality of our genetics and end-product. Our Wagyu are raised throughout their lives on the lush grasses from the Ovoka terroir. We developed our own custom, two-phase, all-natural and non-GMO grain finishing program because we care about the health of our cattle and our clients. Each year, we raise and harvest limited amounts of the finest, most flavorful heritage breed meats in the world. Sharing this bounty with friends, both old and new, who take the time to appreciate our passion fulfills us. ABOUT OUR FARM Ovoka’s storied history predates that of the United States. Originally part of the 3000 acre Robert “King” Carter land grant in 1731, Ovoka was surveyed by George Washington in 1769. A stone building still stands on Ovoka that Washington used in his surveying work. Remnants of the farm’s original 18th century stone structure are still seen under the farmhouse, which itself dates back to the 1730’s. During the Civil War, Ovoka served as an important strategic location, with both armies occupying the farm at multiple points. Ovoka became a focal point for equestrian sport in the early 19th century, with the first trotting track in America.
