Hi, i’m Karen (the Thatch behind the Creative), I live in Ashford, Kent and am a Freelance Creative & Comms Consultant. I come from a 👩🏽‍⚕️ Nursing background, but started my Comms life by spending 3 years developing a ‘Communications and Media’ role within a community church, before stepping out and starting my own business. I learnt many of my design and social media development skills within that role, as well as developing a deep passion for ⛪️ Church Communications being the best that they can be. Churches, Charities and Small Businesses are my passion, but I love learning new things and helping people communicate the voice of their organisation in a creative and sustainable way. I am passionate about story telling, and love to reflect identity into every area of my freelance projects. Whether that’s a logo for a new start up, photography or videography to reflect who someone is and where they’ve come from, or simply teaching the importance of good communications and the basic skills for using and maintaining a manageable social media presence in a busy business life. I am passionate about producing empathy cards that reflect real life situations. From first hand experience, I knows that when someone’s physical, mental or emotional health is at an all time low, sending or receiving a card saying ‘get well soon’ probably isn’t going to cut it. I wanted to produce cards that are empathetic to real situations: from a simple and honest "thank you", to a way of telling someone that you're thinking of them when they're in pain and you don’t know what to say. The heart behind the cards is simple- real life cards, for real life people. All of my cards are digitally and originally designed, printed on recycled card and filled with a whole lot of heart- You may find some sarcasm; you may also find some tenderness, you definitely WILL find real life.
