Kamran Qureshi

As part of an integrated placement year as part of my undergraduate degree, I worked in the quality control department of a Foot and Mouth Disease vaccine production site for Boehringer Ingelheim. I completed routine testing of samples from different stages of the vaccine production process including inactivation kinetics and typing/identity testing. I also completed an independent project changing the standard operating procedure for the inactivation kinetics test to reduce cost and time for the test and reduce the risk of repetitive strain injury. I was also involved in procurement of a new centrifuge for the department and equipment to improve the testing for the department. The role required working in a biosafety level 4 facility and completing GMP standard paperwork and I was also part of a GMP audit as well as an Veterinary Public Health site audit.

I worked in the different departments of the store on the tills, ensuring shelves remained stocked and in the changing rooms, i also reorganised the stock room to follow the company standard method. During sales i worked tagging sale items and also worked the shop floor. I stayed after the closing of the store to tidy and came in out of hours to build displays.
