Process Engineer – Corn Wet Milling
Cilegon
- Initiated process troubleshooting of heavy-plugging issue in corn steep liquor (CSL) pipes by correlating plugging frequency with corn gluten feed (CGF) yield and quality trends, evaluating flow characteristics, and proposing pump replacement. - Conducted lab-scale chemical CIP trials using caustic soda to evaluate optimum concentration and temperature for effective removal of CSL plugging. - Proposed to reutilize an idle plate heat exchanger (PHE) for additional cooling in starch washing, enabling process water reuse in starch washing and evaluated cooling tower capacity, with estimated cost saving of 2.20 billion annually. - Led commissioning activities of Corn Cleaning Upgrade project including IO Test, Dry Test, Flushing, and Wet Test, while designing the automatic sequence and interlock to ensure safe startup and stable operation.

QC Rotation (Dec'24 - Feb'25): - Conducted RCA on CSL sludge issues, created daily sludge-volume analysis work instructions, and recommended improvements including better water separation in the gluten–starch slurry and upgrades of corn cleaning equipment. - Optimized new NIR spectroscopy equipment with improved chemometric calibration for %DE analysis in sweetener products, reducing program bias by 97.43%. Utility Rotation (Mar - Apr'25): - Conducted a feasibility study to convert soft water to demineralized water by analyzing plant supply-demand and operational cost comparison. - Assessed reverse osmosis membrane performance using salt rejection, actual membrane flux, and outlet water quality to determine the necessity of membrane replacement. Production Rotation (May - Nov'25): - Analyzed flow characteristics of heavy gluten from tank through PHE to gluten dewatering equipment and proposed pump replacement as a corrective action for recurring flow restrictions. - Proposed switching spray water from light gluten to process water to reduce nozzle fouling in rotary drum vacuum filter and performed mass balance, including nozzle-disk centrifuge capacity assessment, to evaluate the overall gluten system. - Investigated condensation occurring in dedusting equipment and gluten dryer chimney and proposed adding thermal insulation, reducing steam consumption of gluten dryer with potential annual savings of IDR 422 million. - Reviewed monthly corn germ yield and quality, identified gaps against best operating practices, and worked closely with operators through monitoring on whole corn kernel at the 2nd grinding stage, resulting in a 20.56% increase in fat recovery to germ.

Process Engineering Intern
- Completed a 6-week internship period in the Ammonia Plant 1A - Studied regarding the overall process of ammonia production in Plant 1A through Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and discussions with Process Engineer Supervisor and Operators. - Forecasted the lifetime of high temperature and low temperature shift converter catalyst based on temperature and reactor depth - Simulated the CO2 removal process using Honeywell Unisim to evaluate the removal process efficiency
