About

Hey, I’m Kaitlyn! I’m a First-Class Honours Graphic Design graduate with a passion for bold ideas and meaningful design. I’m a creative, outgoing and pragmatic thinker with a “can do” mindset that’s earned me recognition such as the Cameron Day Charitable Trust Grant and the East Midlands Chamber Future Leader Award. My work has been recognised by Adobe, leading to opportunities through the Adobe Creative Apprenticeship. And my book ‘How to do it rong’ has been published and is now stocked in two bookshops. Whether I’m crafting visual stories or solving design challenges, I believe in the power of creativity to shape perception and spark joy. Always curious, always creating.

I graduated from the University of Derby with a First Class Honours in Graphic Design, I spent my time developing a strong foundation in visual communication, branding, typography, and digital media. Throughout my degree, I worked on a range of industry led projects, combining creative thinking with technical skills across Adobe Creative Suite, motion graphics, and understanding UX/UI design. The course strengthened my ability to manage complex design briefs, collaborate in creative teams, and present ideas confidently, preparing me for a dynamic career in the design industry.

As part of a team, I collaborated on the design of the University of Derby’s annual School of Arts Research (SOAR) magazine. My role involved applying both creative and digital skills to develop the visual identity of the publication, focusing on layout design, typographic styling, and content hierarchy. Using Adobe InDesign, I was responsible for crafting engaging, clear, and cohesive spreads that aligned with the magazine’s academic tone while maintaining visual interest. This project required close teamwork, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of editorial design principles to bring the research stories to life in a compelling and accessible way.
