In this role I work with women who have fled domestic abuse in our refuge, recognising and responding to their emotional and practical needs through one to one sessions, group work, working closely with other agencies and advocating on the woman’s behalf. This also involves working on the helpline, to describe WWA services, signpost and take refuge referrals.

This role involved empowering clients and ensuring the safety of survivors and their children. Specifically, my tasks involved liaising with survivors, families and friends about domestic abuse. In addition I carried out risk assessments and gave appropriate safety planning advice to those seeking help.

In this role, I used Applied Behavioural Analysis techniques to help a 4-year-old child on the spectrum, with her development. It involved various activities, both physical and mental which aim to improve a plethora of skills. This was an incredibly rewarding work as I developed a relationship with my charge and also saw the improvements before me.

ASPIeRATIONS is an organisation that aims to help the workplace become more accessible for people with ASD. I worked in a management role as Regional Team Leader of Greater London, with my team and myself collecting data from universities regarding their neurodiverse student population and the support currently in place for them. Additionally, I worked in a team analysing our data and researching for sponsorships.

- In this role I helped care for young adults with challenging behaviours, who resided at a boarding school. This involved various activities to ensure they were stimulated throughout the summer holiday period. It helped me grow to be more confident when interacting with people with learning difficulties, and appreciate their perspective in life.

- In this role I tutored English and Maths to disadvantaged children This job improved my communication skills, not only with the children but also their parents when relaying their progress. Furthermore, it highlighted my ability to problem solve on the spot – as I had to use various methods to ensure the children understood their work and were paying attention.

Through the course of this degree my passion for psychology has only expanded. I have improved my time management - as multiple tight deadlines, in addition to my extra-curricular activities, are common. I achieved a 2:1 overall, with a 1st in my dissertation.
