- First‑author discovery: identified that Ccq1 restrains Mre11‑dependent nuclease activity to enable end‑protection at newly formed telomeres (S. pombe). - Built and scaled an inducible proto‑telomere (I‑SceI) model to track telomere formation and showed that heterochromatin spreads gradually and remains dynamic. - Advanced methods: co‑authored a Methods in Molecular Biology protocol describing a rapidly inducible DSB system to monitor telomere formation, DNA repair, and checkpoint activation. - Collabolation with CRCM (Marseille, France): co‑authored studies on telomere stability in quiescent cells. - Model‑reframing result (first author): demonstrated that telomeres block checkpoint activation independently of H4K20me2 depletion. - Lasting impact: work seeded multiple publications **after my departure**, highlighting durable value from my experimental systems, strains, and datasets. • Contributed tools and constructs to the field. - PhD researcher, CRCM (Marseille) – “Telomeres & Chromatin” team led by Vincent Géli. - Thesis: Replication and maintenance of telomeres in Schizosaccharomyces pombe — RPA’s ability to prevent/resolve secondary structures (G‑quadruplexes). - First‑author discovery: showed that RPA prevents G‑rich (G4) structure formation at lagging‑strand telomeres, sustaining shelterin association and telomerase action (The EMBO Journal, 2015). - Established genetic and molecular assays in fission yeast to interrogate telomere replication stress (e.g., RPA1‑D223Y model), Rad52 recruitment, and checkpoint readouts; designed and executed multi‑technique workflows (yeast genetics, ChIP, Southern blots, microscopy). - Collaborated closely with international partners and the CRCM teams to translate mechanistic insights on telomere replication into citable, peer‑reviewed outputs. - Contributions from my PhD work supported subsequent CRCM‑linked publications. - Communicated findings via manuscripts, seminars, and lab meetings; mentored junior students on yeast telomere methods and data analysis.
