• Contributed an Environmental Health lens to the UNCA Heart of Heath Project that is examining the effect of racism on health in Western North Carolina • Conducted archival research on the potential role of racism in agriculture, as well as in the occupational safety and environmental exposures of Champion Pulp and Paper Mill in Canton, NC • Analyzed demographic and mapping tools to determine that there is a higher percentage of black populations than the county average in close proximity to the paper mill, which prompts further research • Heightened understanding of research methods through exposure to the process of coding oral-histories
