About
As Principal at Askins Advocates Arbitration, LLC., I leverage financial and legal skills to address transactional and investment issues in disputes. I have an LL.M. in International Arbitration from the University of Miami School of Law and have over 7 years of experience as an independent arbitrator. I currently serve as Vice Chair of the International Arbitration Committee of the ABA for Rule of Law, and Vice Chair of the International Trade Committee of the ABA for Policy. More recently I became Deputy to the Chair of the Committee on CLE at the ABA. I have been honored to participate in both VIS Moot, FDI Moot, Cross Examination Moot, Victor’s Moot, Jessup and Frankfurt Moot competitions as a Panelist, coach and mentor/consultant. I am a proud Member of FDI Moot College of Arbitrators (FDIMARB).I am growing my practice beyond the current concentration on Securities arbitration with FINRA into the areas of international trade and commercial transactions, Foreign Direct Investment and Private Equity. I am affiliated with several arbitration institutions, including FINRA, LCIA, NYIAC, BIAMC, and CACC. I am a Dual US and Peruvian National. My goal is to pursue every opportunity in Alternative Dispute Resolution that promotes fairness, equity and efficiency in which I have the requisite competence.

Transactional Achievements: Mergers and Acquisitions: Served as Interim Corporate Counsel for a multimedia consortium during its merger activity, with responsibility for evaluating, negotiating and drafting merger documents. Entrepreneurial and Venture Services: Created business plans for both a new Condo-Hotel management and development corporation, and a trade/consumer advocacy association in that space. Reorganized a service provider into a staffing services firm in Medical services space. Alternative Energy: Represented an advanced energy technology firm in negotiating a competitive contract with the Department of Defense for a multimillion-dollar contract and served as the Strategy Consultant for the firm’s principal. Strategic Business Plans: Teamed with a nationally televised media personality in the conception and execution of a dynamic business plan for a weekly television show with national distribution and viewership. Global Business Issues: Consulted for Fairleigh Dickinson University on a broad range of business matters in the creation of a distance learning institution, the creation of course offerings and strategic input on several joint-venture initiatives between Fairleigh Dickinson University and educational institutions in China. Philanthropy: Assisted in establishing Alcanzando, Inc., a 501(c)(3) Public Charity. Alcanzando, Inc. is a global provider of ABA certified early intervention services, education and community support for children with autism with an extensive network of service initiatives throughout South America.

The thesis was used as a position "white paper" by Armco, Inc. (now AK Steel) for the National Association of Manufacturers and the American Enterprise Institute.
