Key Responsibilities • Provided technical support to the offshore oil and gas drilling engineering team, which was responsible for the on budget and on schedule delivery of complex offshore oil exploration wells (c.$200M per well) on the North West Shelf of Australia. • Produced preliminary well designs based on subsurface specifications for use in project selection and feasibility assessments. • Developed preliminary risk assessments and led multi-disciplinary team through management of change processes for potential design changes to the well. • Carried out quality assurance inspections of critical components of the well to ensure their compliance with the vendor’s quality systems, reporting on non-compliances to senior engineers for follow-up. • Contributed to technical documents required for design and implementation, and regulatory compliance of the wells such as cost estimates, technical drawings, equipment specifications and critical well information summaries. • Visited field-based operations (offshore drilling rig) during project implementation to gain practical operational experience. Key Achievements • Developed database templates to streamline data input process for department’s Well-site Data Management System, significantly reducing man-hours spent on daily reporting. • Developed an integrated project schedule for Offshore Australia Drilling and Completions, used to forecast key project milestones and optimise engineering resource allocation. • Created a database that captured critical information pertaining to the availability and capability of all offshore drilling rigs throughout Australia and SE Asia, used by management to improve the rig contracting efficiency for future projects.
