Joseph Whitner is a founder & investor in the value based care (focusing on primary care) and digital health spaces. He currently serves as a Managing Partner of Despierta (https://www.despierta.vc) and Founder of Rise Health (which announced it's growth equity financing in December 2022 > https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/rise-health-launches-with-growth-equity-investment-made-by-lorient-and-martis-301706556.html). At Despierta, he works with PE sponsors for value add opportunities in business dev, corporate dev and M&A & key HR opportunities. Additionally he works with many of the LPs at Despierta. Whitner supports several of Despierta's portfolio companies including Rise finding primary care practices who'd like to join Rise's value prop for transitioning their practices to operate as fully capitated practice. Previously, Joseph has served as CEO/Founder of Mastermind Health & VC at Startupbootcamp Miami, where he has focused on sourcing & recruitment of digital health startups to the seed fund portfolio. Concurrently, he works closely with all 30+ portfolio companies with regards to strategic customer development and fundraising. He also fosters corporate and LP investment relationships for the innovation program and seed fund. He has invested in 11 companies total as an angel and serves as an advisor to several companies too and has now been a part of 5 exits collectively. He is a contributor to the Beacon Council - Health & Life Science Committee, Beacon Tech Innovators Committee, and Miami Venture Capital Association (MVCA) in addressing initiatives for building sustainable businesses in South Florida.
