About
Having completed the LLB component of my degree with a First Class Honours averaging 83%, I have now secured the Master of Law and Practice (MLP), the equivalent of the Legal Practice Course (LPC) alongside two additional electives at Distinction level. I am a hardworking, self-motivated individual who strives to go beyond expectation. I have achieved a first class honours degree, averaging 83% and securing a commendation on the Dean's List. I received six course awards in total. These include the award for Best Overall Student in 4th year as well as a mark of 100% in my Private Client exam. I was also one of 3 students selected from a 5000 cohort to have my coursework assessment put forward to be considered for publication in the University research journal. The submission required advanced legal research into a range of primary and secondary sources as well as a critical analysis of figures and academic opinion to produce an informed, rounded discussion in the form of a business research journal.

Experience

trainee solicitor

work experience
schofield sweeney solicitors
I had the opportunity to work alongside the corporate, litigation and residential conveyancing teams. Whilst working with the corporate team, I took on a number of tasks including using information set out on Form IN01 and on Companies House to create a comprehensive set of registers for a new company; a range of research tasks in preparation for upcoming client meetings; Commercial Law tasks by drafting both a Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy (with an accompanying Cookies Statement) for a client. I observed and assisted the conveyancing team with client interviews at a variety of stages in the conveyancing process, from taking initial instructions, explaining a legal obstacle relevant to a particular transaction through to clients coming in to sign up and have the findings of the investigation of title explained; research tasks arising as a result of the meetings; drafting subsequent correspondence to clients summarising the meeting and advising on the next steps; issued a precedent agenda for the firm (in relation to the impacts of fracking on the local conveyancing process).

barista
go go coffee
Part time Barista. The company was often the main refreshments provider at events, meaning an inevitably high footfall of customers, an environment in which I was able to utilise my propensity to work well under pressure. I oversaw events, ensuring the vehicle outlets and stock were sourced and delivered to the correct location; allocating staff on the day of the events; operating as a Barista at one of the outlets whilst also ensuring the other outlets were being run and managed efficiently; at the end of trading, I would collect and count takings from all outlets, record the information and report to the Managing Director.
