I was an urban planning consultant with a focus on economic impact analysis and economic development planning. Public clients included the NYC Economic Development Corporation, Empire State Development Corporation, NYC Department of Transportation, NYC Department of Environmental Protection, NYC Mayor's Office, Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, and City of Providence Mayor's Office. University and laboratory clients included Argonne National Laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Brown University, Case Western Reserve University, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Cornell University, Dillard University, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, Johnson & Wales University, New York University, Princeton University, and Stony Brook University. Corporate and real estate clients included Cablevision, Cable Telecommunications Association of New York, Forest City Ratner, Madison Square Garden, Related Companies, Vornado Realty Trust, and Whole Foods.

Graduate intern on the bicycle/pedestrian team in City Planning's Transportation Division. Conducted a 2-year study of pedestrian flows and behavior in Lower Manhattan with a goal of recommending a new pedestrian level of service methodology. With my colleagues, I coordinated and conducted fieldwork, helped to develop the evaluation methodology, performed statistical analyses, and assisted in writing the final report.

I was a product manager responsible for designing merchandise planning, supply chain optimization, and logistics applications for the retail industry. I consulted with leading retailers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the U.K. on business process and technology issues.

Implemented SAP Retail to replace legacy merchandising/accounting/supply chain systems, including business process redesign, system configuration and customization, data migration, go-live support, maintenance, and upgrades.

I was a member of the founding engineering team at String. My focus was building restaurant/hotel search and recommendation services from dozens of external sources as well as our own users and experts. I primarily used Ruby on Rails, Express.js, MySQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis.

* As a full-stack Rails engineer I worked on every facet of the application, including listing, building & agent pages * listings search * billing * batch processes * user management * admin/research tools * listing data feeds * performance improvements, and upgrades. In addition to RoR, primarily worked with MySQL, Mongodb, Memcached, Redis, jQuery. As engineering lead, I managed a team of 10 full-stack engineers from 2014 to 2015.

At one point, Ride the City was the largest dedicated bike routing service in the world, providing safe point-to-point bike routes in 45 cities in 9 countries, and translated into 4 languages. We launched 2 years before Google offered bike routing in Google Maps. I was a co-founder and engineering lead and built everything (except the native iOS and Android apps) from the ground up.
