Responsible for asset quality of UK Invoice Finance lending portfolio of Clydesdale Bank Invoice Finance

Responsible for teams of relationship managers and auditors as well as credit underwriting and systems and controls. Designed and launched product specific to high risk HBoS customers and built operations team to support. I had previously joined Kellock Factors in 1993 (subsequently acquired by Bank of Scotland) and there helped set up, and then managed, the Kellock/BoS joint venture that delivered a small business product under the "Bank of Scotland Cashflow Finance" brand, the Bank's first Invoice Finance product. The success of this provided the proof of concept prior to full launch across UK for all sizes of business.

After many years working in corporate recovery and Banking, specialising in Invoice Finance and Asset Based Lending, I set up Oakfield Millar Ltd to continue to help the SME market and the Banks that support it. With a deep understanding of both the lender and the customer's needs, we can add value in pre-lend due diligence, ad hoc case reviews, reviewing and managing distressed positions and in implementation of enhanced risk processes. Working with the borrower, we can also provide cash flow management support, help with facility administration and reporting, and assistance with renegotiation of facilities. We take a collaborative and independent approach, taking time to understand the needs of all parties, and seek to bring solutions that lead to long term and mutually beneficial relationships between the lender and the customer.
