Lohika specializes in dual-shore product development for technology companies. As a senior member of the Lohika US team, I was responsible for managing customer engagements and directly managing the onshore team of Solution Architects, which in turn led teams of over 150 engineers.

I run multiple engineering teams on Zendesk's main Support product, encompassing the inbound email (10 million emails/day), outbound email, overhauling the main agent UI, reliability & stability initiatives and developing Zendesk's omnichannel program. I've grown teams in SF and expanded the Support product's engineering into APAC.

Zendesk builds software for better customer relationships. It empowers organizations to improve customer engagement and better understand their customers. Zendesk products are easy to use and implement. They give organizations the flexibility to move quickly, focus on innovation, and scale with their growth.

I'm responsible for 40+ people over nine teams and four timezones, encompassing a broad set of mostly back-end engineering for Zendesk's flagship Support product.

Chief Architect for Attent - an enterprise productivity application inspired by multiplayer online games, running on MS Outlook, Windows, Java/Spring/Hibernate & Oracle. Attent tackles the problem of information overload in corporate email using psychological and economic principles from successful games. Attent creates a synthetic economy with a currency (called Serios) that enables users to attach value to an outgoing email to signal importance. It gives recipients the ability to prioritize messages and a reserve of currency that they can use to signal importance of their messages to others. Attent also provides a variety of tools that enable everyone to track and analyze communication patterns and information exchanges in the enterprise.

At Iperia’s I developed their mobile strategy and brought Instant Conferencing and Visual Voicemail with Transcription to market on Blackberry, iOS and Android. This included product design, engineering management, sales & developing the product roadmap. These apps are now sold by GENBAND, SONUS, PAETEC, Enventis, Windstream, Epiphany & Buckeye CableSystems. I led the team developing Iperia’s flagship VX product. It is now sold as GENBAND's EXPERiUS Unified Messaging Manager to telecoms companies worldwide. Conceived and designed Iperia’s Mobile Gateway product, allowing the Visual Voicemail mobile applications to connect to competitor and legacy voicemail platforms. This gave Iperia an entry into otherwise closed sales opportunities and ultimately enabled their acquisition. Led the technical due-diligence leading to the acquisition of Iperia by PAETEC and subsequently GENBAND.

Built and deployed Crossaig’s Voyager document workflow system, which replaced varied legacy systems within Thomson ISI. Voyager is a component-based system based around a three-tier DCOM architecture using MFC running on MS Windows. Introduced a level of formality for the development process (programming standards, testing, UML, OOD) and achieved a measurable improvement in software quality. Effective project management allowed the projects to be budgeted and scheduled accurately.

Original architect and lead developer of Hexatec’s SCAN1000 industrial monitoring & control (SCADA) product, built using MFC and C++, running on MS Windows. It provides real-time interactive web-enabled views on industrial processes. Engineer on Hexatec’s legacy SCAN1000 Data product; a distributed industrial control and data monitoring system, deployed mainly in the power generation industry. Led Hexatec towards ISO9000 accreditation as their Quality Manager, introducing more formal development methodologies and rigorous QA procedures.

Seriosity uses some of the principles that drive multiplayer online games to improve collaboration, innovation, productivity and both employee and customer engagement. Most recently we were building games for enterprise customers. I was responsible for all software development and QA activities with a distributed team based in Palo Alto & the Philippines. This is a multi-talented team working with technologies such as LAMP, Flash and Abode Air (targeting iOS & Android). Prior to that, we worked on a variety of consumer and enterprise projects, ranging from a virtual economy built using Java/Hibernate to deep customizations of MS Outlook.

I designed and coded the initial platform plus proof-of-concept HTML5 mobile app, then brought the full product to market. LAMP, iOS & Android. "Voice YOUR experience on any brand… in seconds, anytime, anywhere. WE deliver it directly to the brand!"

I spend my days (and most evenings) knee-deep in Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Heroku & Solr. What's Taproot? Well, you've got amazing mobile and social tools when you're studying in college, looking for a date, connecting with old friends, sending selfies, looking for a job, even raising money for your start-up. Then you have a child. And it's like walking through a time portal to 1999. You live in email again. Yahoo Groups rules your world. Nothing is mobile. The social graph is invisible (which stinks because you can never remember anyone's name). What should bring you joy (kids!) becomes a digital theater of pain. Also, paper flyers. We're solving that problem, and by doing it we're lighting up one of the biggest unmapped social graphs out there.
