Elevated performance through development and roll-out of new systems, processes, and best practices in production and project management. Enhanced visibility and management of projects / resources across UK and USA locations through establishment of PPM (Portfolio and Project Management) SaaS (Software as a Service) solution. Project managed successful partnership agreement to sell re-badged instruments from third party manufacturer into targeted overseas markets and territories.

Drove full project lifecycles in alignment with divisional and corporate strategies. Delivered savings through identification of potential SKU rationalisation and collaboration. Played a key role in timely and quality delivery of products / services by working closely with contracts managers and suppliers in adhering with requirements. Improved “right-first-time” production build ratio by collaboration with Design Engineering specialists in streamlining processes and with Quality team in establishing standard works instructions. Established safe environment of continuous improvements by educating workforce regarding health / safety / corporate regulations in addition to proper handling of disputes / disciplinary issues. Introduced Production Engineering function within LAND’s Operations department, including staff recruitment, laboratory facilities, KPIs, and ISO 9000 compliant procedures. Oversaw New Product Introduction process, including Design for Manufacture, BOM structures, manufacturing routes, ERP set-up (SAP), preferred supplier promotion, manufacturing work instructions, CNC machining programmes, assembly, and test equipment specification as well as manufacturing and procurement. Coordinated design and implementation of approved ATEX / IECEx Quality Management System for manufacturing of instruments used in explosive atmospheres. Slashed manufacturing cost of products and created new variants culminating in sales growth.

Managed supervisors, electronics engineers, and seven direct reports assigned to testing / calibration of electronic sub-assemblies in addition to industrial instruments. Developed, procured, and maintained all test equipment. Led integration / restructuring of LAND Combustion and LAND Infrared Test section following corporate merger. Led company’s first ‘Kaizen’ type event focused on the Lancom 2 PGA (Portable Gas Analyser). Increased productivity and efficiency through automation of manual processes.

Coordinated testing / calibration of electronic sub-assemblies and non-contact temp measurement instruments. Contributed to resources allocations, QA, preventative solutions, training, programme improvements, testing, and procurement (£50K). Pioneered download of first ERP production order data to formally assess staff performance against ‘standard’ operation times. Also used to highlight quality and manufacturability issues.

Conducted design and manufacturing of testing / assembly equipment for new products (£35K). Trained and supported technical staff charged with diagnosing manufacturing, design, and supplier non-conformances – collaborated with quality specialists to provide remedial and preventative solutions. Completed assessment, planning, and procurement of Automatic Test Equipment. Designed and manufactured all ATE fixtures and software to electronically test LAND’s next generation of non-contact thermometer range. Formulated new blackbody calibration arrangement allowing 3 sources to be mounted in close proximity on the same horizontal axis. This reduced set-up time significantly and deskilled the process.
