About

I have always loved telling stories, so pursuing a career in communication was part of the natural order of things. I began my career serving as a reporter/copy editor/photographer for various newspapers in Kansas and Arizona. My first television experience came in Phoenix on the assignment desk for (then) CBS affiliate KTSP-TV. Throughout the years I have moved up the ranks, serving as reporter, producer, executive producer and news director in television. Along the way I have work in public radio, corporate communications (copywriter/speech writer for a Fortune 500 insurance company in Omaha), owned and operated my own video production company (1995-2013) and in 1999 entered the college classroom as an assistant professor of journalism. Possibly the highest honor I've achieved is in 2004 I was invited to attend a faculty seminar with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in Burbank, California. I have also served on the Festival Committee for the Broadcast Education Association, and have made numerous presentations at the BEA national convention in Las Vegas.
