Develop and/or maintain an in-depth global market knowledge of assigned products/ supplier technologies, manufacturing processes, and related industries: including cost drivers, global execution, to leverage across multiple manufacturing locations, and to understand specific supply issues. Act as a resource to regional purchasing teams, and others, using that knowledge. Assist in development and implementation of global/regional product sourcing strategies based on knowledge of regional markets, suppliers and plants. Build cost saving opportunities through competitive bidding, negotiations to achieve / exceed savings targets and deliver on-time reporting. Negotiate price, contract terms and conditions and draft contracts where necessary. Establish service levels and jointly work with relevant partners to measure and monitor supplier’s performance. Maintain and review supplier performance to ensure conformance to supplier management goals (cost, quality, service, delivery). Ensure timely resolution of all disputes. Develop and lead sourcing strategies for categories and deliver effective Requests for Proposals (RFP), as necessary. Provide guidance to R&D (technical and commercial) and Engineering Team regarding new industry trends and provide market intelligence. Lead the risk management and supply continuity programs for the Segment. Work with critical suppliers to improve current performance and develop new opportunities. Lead cross functional teams to successfully drive complex sourcing projects or Margin Improvement projects (MIPs). Apply appropriate competitive cost and process benchmarks, financial analysis and risk management techniques to tackle sophisticated issues. Develop strong, ethical relationships with World Class suppliers and ensure that activities surrounding taking care of suppliers are conducted under the auspices of good business practices and consistent with the Baxter Code of Ethics.

Responsible for the implementation of the global procurement strategy over mechanical parts category, which includes Metal Parts (machined, hardware, motors, metal parts), Rigid Plastics (injection molding), Motors, Hardware (custom made and std off the shelf) elastomers and rubber custom made parts, related with Devices Business Unit including Infusion Pumps, Hemodynamic Monitoring Systems, Ventilators and Temperature Management Devices. Set and manage category supply strategy, Make vs Buy or Buy vs Make analysis, RFX end to end process. Supplier Relation Management which includes creation and maintenance of mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement. This includes driving continuous improvements with the supplier base. Lead supplier selection and development process which includes locate, analyze and develop a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future commodity needs; as well to direct the negotiation and management of contracts/agreements for assigned commodities with medium to high risk and medium to high complexity. Manage PPV for given categories. Ensure supply continuity at optimal cost and develop risk management strategies and recommends short and long terms strategies with defined risk/benefit strategies. Develops alternate sources to ensure a steady flow of goods, materials, and/or services. Lead cost reduction Project delivering $3M savings per year. Global corporate interaction with manufacturing sites located in Costa Rica, Mexico, United States and Europe and among internal team players as Quality, Sustaining Engineering, Finance, Regulatory Affairs. Develop cross-functional teams with these key internal team players to understand division-wide needs and evaluate suppliers.

Processing Intercompany Purchase Orders, Coordinating import, export and third party shipping, Management Managing and coordination of local and international inventories, Advice and support on customs and logistics.

Monitoring for cargo in both directions, processing of documentation, coordination with carriers, shippers, customs brokers, customs bonded warehouses, freight forwarders and other agents of international trade. Advice on customs matters (Value, Origin, Classification, Duties, etc.)
