Operate and monitor critical refinery units including a Hydrogen Production unit, Isomax (Hydrocracking) unit and Sour Gas Treating units to ensure safe and efficient operations. Maintain proper reformer conditions, steam-to-carbon ratios, system reliability, controlling reaction severity, hydrogen consumption, and conversion rates. Monitor and control binary and multi-component distillation columns, reflux ratios, tower pressures, and cut-point specifications. Control and optimize process variables (pressure, temperature, flow rates, hydrogen partial pressure) using Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and field instrumentation. Execute unit start-ups, shutdowns, and emergency procedures in accordance with refinery operating standards and safety protocol. Perform routine field rounds, equipment inspections, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve operational issues before impacting production. Maintain compliance with Process Safety Management standards, environmental regulations, and refinery procedures.

Responsible for the safety management, job planning, work site organization, and the accountability of all rope work and training to safely meet deadlines for client compliance. Direct all API and NDE rope personnel assigned to the on-stream inspection program. Oversee all rope access performed on plant outages, and work directly with clients to establish company relations and expectations. Prior onsite experience includes level 3 rope access inspector on the OSI program performing external visual inspections of in-service equipment and piping systems to ensure continuous reliability of the operating units. Performed all API 510 rope access internal inspection during the Fluid Catalytic Cracker unit outage.

Performing API 510/570 external inspection for Williams on Mobile Block 822 Offshore Platform. Responsibilities include performing visual inspections, assigning corrosion monitoring locations, drawing isometric sketches of all piping, updating P&ID’s and general inspection recommendations.

Performing the Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance Inspection for CVR Energy refinery. Responsibilities are to restore unit mechanical Integrity and process efficiency while providing the means for a safe, reliable, and continuously operational unit until the next major turnaround. Preventing costly errors, poor workmanship, and non-conformances by assurance that all materials and equipment provided and installed as well as the processes employed by anyone executing the work conform to CVR Engineering Standards, Plant Standards, Plant Procedures, and Quality Assurance Standards. Finalizing the turnover completed TA Job Packages which provide the necessary documentation as well as interfaces with the plant equipment files.

Performing internal inspections on vessels, towers, and exchangers within the FCC to determine damage during processing and longevity of the equipment along with visual flange inspections per the Phillips 66 Hydrofluoric acid Alky inspection specifications. Responsibilities include performing visual inspections, measuring distortions, corrosion and dimensions to determine if acceptable or reject-able. All data is recorded through Phillips 66 newly implemented mobile data entry application to update reports in real time while performing inspections.

Responsible for reviewing and entering inspection data into a database for all API 570 borescope, RT, and visual external inspection for a new chemical plant contaminated with Microbiological Induced Corrosion (MIC), additionally requested NDE, Isometric corrections, and general inspection recommendations.

Responsible for providing safety management, work site organization, and supervisory leadership and accountability to work crews on various projects at the Chevron Refinery.

Managing the planning and execution of the Off-Plot Piping Real Time Radiography (RTR) Project for the Chevron refinery. Update and Follow Isometric Drawings, PFD’s and P&ID’s.

Worked alongside Chevron Management while delegating multiple job tasks to NDE crews; ensuring projects were completed correctly and in a timely manner.

Reviewed all PMI reports to ensure materials were in accordance with the applicable industry codes before being turned over. Worked with API’s and FER to perform PMI as needed on many shutdowns.

Managed and Supervised over multiple OSIs, Nap Acid, Sulfidation, Retro PMI, and Fixed Equipment Asset Strategy (FEAS) Projects. Performed employee performance audits to ensure safety and SOP adherence.

Perform work on regular routine, shutdown, and special projects such as OSIs, Sulfidation, Nap Acid and FEAS by means of requested inspections on piping and equipment within the Chevron Refinery by application of UTT, MT, PT, PMI, RT, RTR and Industrial Rope Access.

Assisted level II technicians ith UTT, MT, PT, PMI, and RT on regular routine, shutdown, and special projects within the Chevron Refinery.

Assisted level II technicians with UTT, MT, PT, PMI, and RT during a turnaround in Lamont, IL for the Citgo Refinery.
