Lead Distillery Operations at International Beverages five Scottish distilleries - Pulteney, Speyburn, Balmenach, Balblair and Knockdhu producing single malt whiskies, blends and Caorunn Gin. Represent the company on key external groups : Scotch Whisky Association, Board Director of Combination of Rothes Distillers Limited. Management Committee of Malt Distillers Association of Scotland. Define and approve scope of works to engineering consultants/contractors for major capex projects. Act as ‘Intelligent Client’ with project management teams to ensure major capex projects are delivered on time and on budget. Lead supplier contracts negotiations in malted barley, utilities, effluent treatment and haulage, asset replacement, etc . Bringing focus to group cost per litre to support expansion of bulk supply contracts to optimise distillery return on capital employed.

• Provided engineering design and CDM delivery support to a major aquafeed company on the upgrade of major parts of their plant. • Reviewed planning deliverables for a significant new distillery project in Scotland to ensure planning and statutory licenses were granted. • Delivered consultancy services on scaling production activity for a specialist startup who have developed a sustainable, reliable, economical plant cell-based biomanufacturing platform for plant biomolecules, utilising natural plant biochemistry.

• Served as the MD to preparing the company and biorefinery for live operations whilst leading the on-site civil, structural, mechanical and electrical build to completion. • Presented Executive information to Board, key private and government stakeholders and potential investors on various funding rounds. • Structured, recruited talent to scale the current team from 9 to 36 during Covid and post Brexit. • Successfully delivered a transformational £25M project from a proven lab concept to scaled up industrial operations including all civil, structural, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation and operational readiness elements. • Designed and implemented process design from process flow concept to detailed specification covering plant P&ID’s, HAZOP’s, LOPA, DSEAR Assessment, Hazardous Area Classification, equipment specification, tendering, procurement and work package development.

• Led the programme design, development and delivery OTIF of the first malt distillery in Ireland for over 100 years at Tullamore (project value of €40M) • Delivered significant Capital investment programme of projects from concept, through design development, delivery, commissioning, handover and optimisation. • Restructured the manufacturing maintenance capacity of UK’s largest grain distillery with a significant budget. • Led the implementation of a new ERP stock management system, external MRO and CMMS module for all site assets to improve availability and plant integrity.

• Key member of the 6-person Management Team leading the development and growth of SUEZ in the UK. • Delivered a two year programme of project works on live petrochem process plant. • Led and delivered multi-site projects and operational and maintenance services across several petro-chemical refinery and water treatment facilities across the UK with projects up to £8M and O&M activity to £3M per annum.
