John Polley, MD

Dr. Polley has joined the staff of Munson Medical Center as a specialist in plastic surgery. He has extensive experience in most areas of plastic and reconstructive surgery. An area of special interest includes pediatric plastic surgery and treating individuals born with cleft lip and palate and other congenital or acquired facial problems. Dr. Polley has spent over the last two decades practicing plastic surgery in Chicago, IL, where he has been Chairman and Director of two major university cleft lip and palate/craniofacial centers. During that times he also was an active plastic surgeon as Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Polley graduated from Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, IL. He completed a residency in general surgery at Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids, MI and fellowships in plastic surgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan; Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada; and the institute for Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, Nashville, TN. He also spent time training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Polley has been extensively involved in research and teaching throughout his career. He has invented numerous medical devices and holds several US patents on medically related items. He has published over 100 peer review articles in scientific journals. Dr. Polley has lectured and operated throughout the world and has volunteered on over a dozen surgical mission trips, mostly in Central America. He has received numerous accolades including "Top Doctor" in Chicago Magazine for over the past decade as well as many other regional and national awards. We are very excited to introduce Dr. Polley as the new Medical Director of the Oral Cleft Clinic.
