John Hughes

I’m a senior program and project management professional with extensive experience leading large scale initiatives across financial services, government, healthcare, and enterprise IT environments. Over the course of my career, I’ve worked at the intersection of business, technology, and risk, helping organizations design, implement, and govern complex systems that support mission critical operations. My background includes managing multi year, multi million dollar programs involving enterprise architecture, master data management, cybersecurity, capital asset planning, and regulatory compliance. I’ve led cross functional teams in Agile and traditional delivery environments, supported executive decision-making through structured reporting and governance, and worked closely with stakeholders across public and private sector organizations. Earlier in my career, I held leadership roles within the financial services industry, including enterprise risk management, where I was directly involved in developing policies, reporting frameworks, and decision support tools designed to identify and manage financial and operational risk. I’ve also spent time working internationally, including several years in Puerto Rico, which provided first-hand exposure to the signs of financial stress, institutional fragility, and economic disruption. Drawing on these experiences, I authored Financial Tsunami at the Frontier, a book that examines how the collapse of a regional bank in Puerto Rico served as an early warning signal for broader systemic financial risks. The book reflects long standing observations from inside financial and institutional systems and explores how warning signs are often visible long before crises fully unfold. I use this platform to stay connected with professionals interested in enterprise architecture, data management, financial risk, and the broader forces shaping economic growth.
