John Hallwright

Hi, I’m John Hallwright. Through my company, Access Security & Control I create secure working environments tailored to the needs of commercial, industrial and corporate New Zealand. As an importer of some of the world’s most beautifully engineered security and access products, I help businesses ensure staff security and confidently control physical access to sensitive, restricted or dangerous areas. Because with my background in business, management and security, I know how vital it is to keep your people, your assets and your premises secure. I initially honed my business skills as an accountant in companies including Alex Harvey Industries, Fisher & Paykel and Alcan - and later as General Manager for the Independent Business Weekly newspaper. I’ve always enjoyed hands-on work, so during this period I balanced time in the office with weekends tending the kiwi orchard I part-owned and operated for more than 20 years. It was also during this time that I developed my interest in engineering and technology. In 1996 I pursued that interest to become GM of Redwood Security Systems, a leading Auckland & Wellington company specialising in electronic security: access control, gate automation and associated disciplines. It was great to be part of such a practical, innovative industry and a year or so later I took up the challenge to develop Wormald Security (part of the Tyco group) as their Auckland Manager. I spent the next few years building up the company and learning more about the security industry, eventually becoming Auckland Manager of Tyco’s larger, amalgamated entity, ADT Security Systems. Then in 2001, I decided to go it alone, launching Access Security & Control to help local businesses create secure working environments using world-class technology and products. Today, with an office manager and 5 technical installation specialists, I work with local companies of all sizes to help them enjoy the benefits of the finest security and access products available.
