Characterized new SOC network devices post silicon for characteristics such as jitter resistance and freedom from bit errors over extremes of temperature and supply voltage variations. Devices operated at 10GHZ to >30GHZ.

Work on advanced molecular diagnostic instruments.

Worked to obtain IEC 60601 EMC and safety compliance certifications which was submitted to FDA. Updated LabView production software to run on Win 10 and to take advantage of higher screen resolutions. Analyzed VHDL code in Xilinx Spartan devices to verify that essential logic functions were not changed during a port from earlier FPGA devices.

Worked on Blood Gas Analyzer. Updated programmable logic device. Replace obsolete parts and characterized LEDs used in spectral analysis.

Designed a compact 2 box electronics support subsystem for the NASA Airspec project. Airspec is an airborne spectrometer designed to gather data during the 2017 solar eclipse. The subsystem consisted of network routers, high speed data acquisition, cameras, and a high speed mirror controller. I was responsible for all electronic subsystems, power supplies and wiring lists. I created and submitted formal FAA documentation to assure compliance with FAA requirements. Also did a preliminary design for the Arcus project which consisted of a hardened micro-controller based 40 channel D/A and A/D which also included 20 solid state switch channels. Arcus is a high resolution X-ray grating spectrometer which will be attached to the International Space Station.

Characterized vibration induced in teeth by Solea, a laser-based drilling and cutting system for dentists. Vibration was detected by a Polytec laser interferometer based vibrometer. Worked with Winlase, a pattern application utility for galvanometer based laser systems to test a variety of patterns.

Modified and improved surge protection, power allocation, DC/DC converter circuits and made mechanical changes as a result of HALT/HASS testing on a BMS (Battery Management System). Contacted and scheduled independent laboratories to conduct testing for a variety of automotive survivability and EMC standards included ISO 10605, ISO 763 7-2, 7-3; ISO 11452-2-4; CISPR 25-6.2,6.3 & 6.4 and GMW8287. Designed, documented and built all required wiring harnesses and associated hardware, reported all results.

Designed analog and digital circuits, PCBs and wirelists for new Xray systems. Designs included interface to embedded micro, motor controller, DC to DC converters and 1000V photomultiplier power supply board. Personally assembled wired and debugged two systems into working prototypes on schedule.

Design hardware & software systems to test and maintain equipment used in rail systems including high power, high voltage inverters, door control systems as well as microprocessor based logic and signaling components. Hardware based on LXI and PXI instruments. Software based on Teststand, Labwindows CVI and Labview.
