I was one of the founders of the Religious Studies program at the University of Stirling, Scotland (along with Lord Sutherland of Houndwood and Glyn Richards). I also briefly taught practical theology in the Divinity School at the University of Aberdeen. For more than twenty years, I have also been teaching in the School of Theology at Fuller Seminary, Pasadena, California, and that is now my major input into theological education. As an ordained priest, I also have extensive experience of leadership in church organizations, local, national, and international, and happily work ecumenically, most especially in relation to mission and the development of new forms of faith community. In that connection, I am chair of the mission shaped ministry board of Fresh Expressions.
