I planned, initiated, and led various projects, including building and facility construction and remodeling, for the Justice Departments of Sonoma County. I established long-term facility and master plans, while also supporting the preparation of a five-year capital improvement plan. In addition, I represented the Facilities Development and Management Division and General Services Department on committees and delivered several presentations to communicate and seek approval for projects. Throughout the project lifecycle, I monitored and reported on the budgets, schedules, and project status. I governed all aspects of the projects, from initiation to design and permitting, including the CEQA environmental review process, bidding, construction, and post-construction. Furthermore, I collaborated closely with county department managers and representatives regarding new construction and alterations to existing facilities. I was responsible for driving all phases of assigned projects, from conception to completion, including project initiation, consultant selection, design, bidding, construction, and post-construction. To ensure success, I coordinated closely with other county department managers and representatives on new construction and/or alterations to existing facilities. As part of this, I engaged with county employees and/or managers to identify space and function needs of proposed projects and carried out feasibility studies and research to determine project requirements, options, and costs for proposed facility modifications. To manage the projects effectively, I defined project budgets and schedules, and closely monitored, managed, and met approved budgets and schedules. I created RFQs and negotiated as well as administered consultant contracts. Additionally, I prepared plans and specifications that meet project requirements and comply with county standards. As part of this, I produced cost estimates for projects and provided recommendations to meet project budgets. I walked through all 49 buildings, which comprised of academic, office, and student housing, to determine and communicate areas of improvement with staff. I collaborated with contractors to perform scheduled preventative maintenance and examined reports to determine additional repairs that were required. To ensure the proper upkeep of the buildings, I bid out work orders for maintenance and new construction, which included mechanical, electrical, plumbing, framing, and drywall projects. I evaluated proposals to ensure complete coverage of the scope and appropriate pricing for the work that was required. Managed projects through completion of construction.
