Mine Health and Safety Act 3.1a Legal Appointee: Leading the mining team responsible for safety, production and associated development with all related services and contractors on Black Mountain mine (Cut and Fill mining), Swartberg Mine (Blasthole Retreat mining) and Gamsberg Underground Mine (Long hole Open Stoping).

Mining and Mine Planning Responsibility for the Feasibility Study of an open pit mine of potentially 150ktpd mineral in Southern Peru. The study is unique with water and waste dumping constraints that require river diversions and intense community engagement and environmental approvals typical of the arid Atacama desert in the Northern Andes mining region.

I was responsible for Short Term and Medium Term in-pit production planning and scheduling at Los Bronces Mine in the central high Andes of Chile in South America. Planning and scheduling is inherently part of the production team. This role was responsible for all mining production that includes associated waste stripping to expose sustainable production copper mineral to the primary crusher with associated dump leaching of low grade ore (for copper cathode production). In addition to schedule all support services and resources to serve the mining fleet. The extreme winter conditions and to incorporate that into mine planning was a challenge I took on with both hands. My receptiveness of change allowed me to give the right support and guidance to the mining teams at the right time. Producing the monthly, weekly and daily production plans requires daily inpit visits with production and mining support services to ensure a practical and sustainable plan in line with the long term and budget plan.

Responsible for the in-house mining Feasibility study of the newly discovered Deeps Ore Body at Black Mountain called the BM Deeps Project. The late discovery of the orebody extention placed urgency on board approval before closure of the existing mine based on endowment assumptions and limited geological information at the time. Project implementation followed on approval of the Black Mountain Deeps Project: Sinking of two new shafts and a decline ramp extension of approximately 9km and associated lateral development. Legal appointee for all mining related activities of the project related to shaft sinking and ramp development.

Responsible underground Coal Production and resource development on one shaft complex (No. 4 and 5 seams). Part of this production was the safe execution of a new shaft project system. Introduction of Continuous Miners and the migration from conventional coal board and pillar drill and blasting sections. I was in charge of the only Pillar Extraction section in the Group (pillar retreat basis (stooping sections) where the safety factors of primary pillars allowed that.

Coal production and ore reserve development.

Platinum production and ore reserve development in the new technology Hydro Power and backfill mine.

Post Graduate mining training and practical mining in Deep Level Gold Mining on the West Rand South Africa and Hydropower Deep Level Platinum Mining in the Bushveld Igneous complex.

This group wide role has the purpose of leading and providing mining technical guidance to all mining operations and projects within the group. Some core functions are not limited to the following but includes: A mining advisor to the Group and first point of contact for the challenging mining environment where we operate. This role has to stimulate a mindset of awareness in ensuring mine planning and operations are fully integrated to make informed decisions and drive value from synergies across the business. As safety remains a core value of the group, identify and respond appropriately to mining risks he became aware of that might impact on the well being of our employees or affect mining delivery and capability. Instill innovated thinking to promote the application of best practice technologies in mining where it makes business sense at the right time of the economic cycle.
