In my role as Lab Automation Workflow & Systems Performance Specialist my day to day work is a blend of activities within two departments, i.e. Global R&D and Global Service. Within Global R&D, I am the right hand of the 4th line escalation manager, supporting and managing global field escalations that require R&D support. I perform remote and on-site investigations to understand problems that could not be tackled by our regular support structure. In conjunction, I clarify the implications of the issue on the system and its users and the possible effects on patient results. Then I either suggest to R&D directions of solution to tackle the issue or advise the customer to adjust their workflow to prevent the issue from happening. Furthermore, within R&D I work on (new) product design, focusing mainly on workflow, software and performance but also on hardware aspects. Within Global Service I focus on service implementation, which is the complete process from installation until the Go-Live. I deliver remote and on-site support to the installation team and customer during and after installation of solutions worldwide focusing mainly on workflow, application and troubleshooting and in lesser amounts on IT and hardware. Another aspect of my Service work is the documentation of workflow and solution related service documentation.

In my current role as Pharma Scientist, I use my master's degree in Molecular Biology to perform and supervise the research of innovative product development of Pharmaceutical Solutions within BD Kiestra. I work on the Validation & Verification of instruments and supervise bachelor's and master's students. As the Core Team member of the Microbiology department, I play a connecting role in exchanging information between the project team and the micro department. Furthermore, it is my job to address microbiology-related concerns with the other departments and to come up with a plan to tackle these.

Process operator in the production facility of Kikkoman Foods, famous for its delicious Soy sauce. I coordinated the safe and smooth production of soy sauce in the Pressing department in this role. In this department, the 'moromi', a fermented mixture of wheat, soybeans, salt and water, is mechanically pressed through layers of fabric to end up with raw soy sauce which can be processed into a final product. Together with a co-operator, I was responsible for supervising the production assistants in the department and the strategic planning of in- and outcoming goods. As a Process Operator, I was the main point of contact in my department. I, therefore, had frequent consultations with the other departments to align the production chain within the factory.

Project title: Towards a Thermodynamic Growth Model Predicting Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion in situ. During this internship, I developed a novel method to cultivate Iron-consuming bacteria in the lab without the use of complex machinery. Moreover, I developed a thermodynamic growth model that could predict microbiologically influenced corrosion in the situ.

Project title: Unravelling the function of flotillins and their connection to penicillin-binding proteins in B. subtilis. This project was focused on the development of a new method to visualize individual proteins within a large protein cluster.

The Programme Committee monitors and assesses the quality of the education. Moreover, it advises on the teaching and examination regulations.

I followed the Research Track with some extra courses in Chemistry and Marine Biology. My master Thesis is titled: "Rewriting Life: A Systematic Review of Unnatural Base Pair Development".

My master thesis is called: The Return to Egypt… Dealing with repatriation demands concerning cultural objects not protected under the 1970 UNESCO Convention.
